"Poppa's Chair" explores the balance between what is old and what is new. The well used and well-loved blue recliner represents a modern element underneath a blue throw which is partly captured in light - from a standing lamp and the sunlight entering the room from the unseen window. Through the years many photos have been taken of Poppa and grand-kids on this chair. It wasn't until the kids got too big for riding shot-gun with Poppa in his chair that it stopped. The recliner has become a repository of memories for the family. The assembled objects form a still life which in effect reflects the lives of its occupants - an understanding that objects influence our lives, and in turn our perception, as we interact with those objects that surround us. A sense of place in a single moment frozen in time
