“Capturing light, painting hope…”
I am an impressionist palette knife artist based on the leafy outskirts of Canberra. An Interior Designer and Colour Consultant for many years, I had to give up work in the industry after health issues in 2018. As a form of Physiotherapy to help regain movement in my right side, I was encouraged to paint. I haven’t put the palette knife down since!
Now recognised for my flowing, expressive style, influences emerge from my love of all things sea, land and sky. With views to the Brindabella ranges, and a protected nature reserve within walking distance I’m constantly inspired by trees and mountain ranges, beautiful sunsets, and cloud formations. However, the coast is my absolute passion. With the NSW South Coast only 90 minutes down the road, I love gaining inspiration from the refracted light through moody clouds and ocean waters, from lush headlands and breezy shorelines, and from the scenic roads, hills and valleys I travel through, to and from.
These road trips to the coast, and back to my childhood town of Wagga Wagga, are also a huge inspiration for my sought after roadscapes, often with my signature pink road. I love pink! Also highly sought after are my figurative beachscapes that capture quiet moments alone, or with loved ones on the sand.
I adore the word 'heartwork' (apart from the slight reference to my surname) it describes my process perfectly. I use my background in colour theory to create beautiful colour harmonies, painting emotive artworks from the heart that allow you to reflect on your own story; to finish the train of thought, to remember a time or place, and to explore and feel the emotions they instil. Artworks that are relatable, that invite you to reflect, force an exhale, evoke a sense of calm…and bring you hope.
Like many, I’ve faced trials, loss, grief, and trauma…so I consider painting my therapy. Still living with chronic pain, I choose to look for hope - a conscious decision made daily to seek light, pursue peace, and find joy. My artworks are a reminder to always look for that light and hope, no matter the trials and challenges we all face.
I’ve been fortunate to have several of my artworks featured on Channel 9’s The Block in 2024, and in Grand Designs Australia Magazine. I’m so blessed to consistently sell and exhibit my work. I have gallery representation in Brisbane and a retail stockist in Melbourne, and consider it a privilege to have already sold over 700 original artworks to both Australian and International collectors since I started my art journey only 6 years ago.
I hope that you too will find that special piece that resonates with you, that you'd like to give a forever home to. Thanks for being here!
