Kate is an intuitive fluid and abstract artist currently residing in Darwin.
Being an early student of art, her work is influenced by the early Op-arts, minimalism, naturalistic impressionism, and many more. Working in various modalities, Kate’s recent focus is in fluid art, which uses flowing paint manipulated with an array of techniques not classically associated with art.
“I love the sense of movement which comes from fluid art and the unpredictability of it, it’s such an organic form of expression, allowing me to play out colourful journeys across the canvas”.
Kates work is full of contrast and vibrant colour, reflecting her love of light, colour and harmony, “I strive to create small windows of contemplation, that reflect the beauty of the natural world”. With an intuitive process showing a natural flow and balance, her works are compositions of intricate, organic and cellular patterns in varying jewel like tones ranging from oceanic blues, forest greens and vibrant reds and plays of negative space.
“I love how open to interpretation fluid and abstract art is. For me my art is an expression of harmony and balance, without having to have a literal meaning, and there is such a sense of peace and freedom that comes from art that just allows you to ‘feel’ without meaning or understanding.”
