I have lived in the Blue Mountains and Nepean area for most of my life, since I was 13 . What I love is that you can look and see the mountain landscape pretty much from anywhere. As a teenager swimming in the river and local mountain waterholes, bush walking, fishing and many other activities. My children have grown up,and still live close and there are many places where we have shared special events. Beautiful landscape with little hidden places that locals go to and many historical sites. I've taken many photos of the flowers, birds and landscape and this series is my own interpretation of this special place.
This artwork is a story of a place in Emu plains where a group of Mulberry Trees grow. When my children were young we would head down the mountain to collect silk worms and Mulberry leaves. We didn't always have success fully growing the worms LoL but it was fun.
Memory, traces and remnants, threads that lay in our Landscapes and the spaces we occupy. I have an intent interest in the connections between memory and environments. A footprint,an area of flattened grass,a scratch or marking are examples of traces or something left or buried a remnant that holds memory of what has been before. In some form we all leave a part of us as we move around either physically or emotionally.
A vibrant modern artwork in colours of pastel pink, light green, red earth and 2 of my own mixed colour an earthy chocolate/red and a beautiful deep pink.
