Quiet Undoing is a large, expressive abstract painting created with acrylic on canvas. Built through multiple layers, the surface shifts between areas of dense pigment and translucent washes. Subtle contrasts between texture and smoothness create a feeling of quiet movement across the canvas.
Using a limited palette of deep blues, muted neutrals, and softened greys, I focused on creating a sense of depth and atmosphere through the interaction of colour and negative space. Edges are blurred and softened, allowing forms to emerge and dissolve organically, with intentional variations in opacity giving the work a layered, immersive quality.
Gestural mark-making is balanced with quieter areas of open space, inviting the viewer to move slowly through the composition. The overall effect is one of tension and release — a suspended, shifting surface that mirrors emotional undercurrents rather than depicting any fixed scene.
